PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ON EMBROIDERY AND LACEWORK
OPERATION AREA district of Warangal, Telangana, India
LOCAL PARTNER Vissua Karuna Sangam Dioceses, Warangal
Even when in expansion, the modern tertiary sectors of industry, highly intensive in capital, create too few workplaces. In the area of structural transformations, these often lead to the destruction of traditional working opportunities. On the occasion of the Copenhagen Convention (1995), the community of states promised better access to the more lucrative markets in the North to developing countries. The road to be followed is however still very long. The survival of large sections of the population is still dependent for the moment, and ever more often, to places of work in a so called “submerged” (or informal) economy: that of handcrafts, of commerce and of small industries.
